Ashish Nehra was one of the best pacers during his time. Despite his career being marred by injuries, Nehra managed to play international cricket for almost 19 years.

He did not play any international game between April 2011 to January 2016 but once Nehra returned, he led India's pace attack in the shortest format.

The veteran left-arm pacer played a total of 17 Tests, 120 ODIs and 27 T20Is, with his final appearance coming in November 2017. Surprisingly, Ashish's final Test appearance came back in 2004.

While many may think that Nehra did not get a chance to make his comeback, the pacer has revealed that he was offered a spot by none other than the captain himself 'MS Dhoni'. He regrets declining that opportunity.

“I didn't play for India between 2005 and 2009. A lot had changed in Indian cricket in that time. When I made a comeback, Dhoni was leading India. However, it was not that we were not on talking terms during that period. Dhoni had offered me Test cricket again in 2009, which I declined. Looking back, I do regret that decision a bit,” Nehra was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
